Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday said India’s armed forces must remain prepared to counter the evolving challenges of asymmetric warfare, asserting that data analytics and algorithmic precision have become as critical as conventional military operations in addressing emerging security threats.
The Lieutenant Governor made the remarks while interacting with officers attending the Higher Command Course-55 of the Army War College, Mhow, at Lok Bhavan in Srinagar.
Addressing senior officers and faculty members, Sinha highlighted the changing geopolitical and geostrategic environment and emphasised the need for a comprehensive counter-terrorism strategy based on a “whole-of-government approach” to dismantle terror networks.
“Our forces must be ready to tackle the challenges of asymmetric warfare. The strategic value of data analysis and algorithmic precision is as important as conventional kinetic operations Friday,” he said.
Referring to the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, the Lieutenant Governor said the transformation witnessed in the Union Territory over the past six years was the outcome of sustained efforts to rebuild public trust, strengthen governance and restore normalcy.
“The transformation in Jammu Kashmir over the past six years is the result of a sustained commitment to rebuilding trust, enabling citizens to lead lives of their own choosing and restoring the dignity that had long been overshadowed by instability,” he said.
Emphasising the importance of grassroots governance, Sinha said effective administration cannot be conducted remotely and must reach every citizen, particularly those living in remote and underserved areas.
“I have consistently emphasised that governance cannot be managed from a distance. Effective administration must reach out to every household in the most remote village and serve the most marginalised citizen with unwavering dedication and responsibility,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor also underscored the government’s continued crackdown on terrorism and its support networks, stating that authorities had acted with “surgical firmness” against the terror ecosystem and those sustaining militancy in Jammu and Kashmir.
He said the administration had dismantled the systematic infiltration of terrorist sympathisers into government institutions, sending a clear message of zero tolerance towards terrorism.
“The systematic infiltration of terrorist sympathisers into government machinery over the past 30 years was decisively dismantled, delivering an unambiguous message of zero tolerance to terror. Public money will no longer sustain those quietly subverting the nation from within,” he said.
Sinha said the government’s integrated approach combines security operations with governance reforms and development initiatives to ensure long-term peace and stability in the region.
Lieutenant General Ajay Chandpuria, Commandant of the Army War College, faculty members and senior officers of the security forces were present during the interaction.
