CPCO lauds district’s top performance in self-enumeration phase
Pulwama : Amit Sharma, the Chief Principal Census Officer and Director of Census Operations for Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, led a review meeting in Pulwama to evaluate the progress of the House Listing and Housing Census Operations (HLO) for Census-2027. The Deputy Commissioner of Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom, emphasized the district administration’s commitment to conducting the census smoothly and accurately. A detailed presentation by the Additional Deputy Commissioner outlined the progress in various areas, including self-enumeration, awareness campaigns, training for census staff, and strategies for including migratory populations and addressing challenges in remote areas.
Addressing the meeting Sharma commended the efforts of the census functionaries and urged them to maintain high standards of accuracy and transparency throughout the ongoing operations. He highlighted the significance of the census as a critical national exercise that informs future planning and resource allocation. To bolster public confidence, he instructed census staff to clearly identify themselves and educate the community about the importance of Census-2027. The Director expressed satisfaction with the current progress but stressed the necessity for complete household coverage and data quality. He called for regular field inspections and strict adherence to census guidelines. Emphasizing inclusivity, he directed officials to ensure that no households, particularly among migratory and tribal communities, are overlooked. The Deputy Commissioner reiterated a zero-error approach and robust monitoring mechanisms to ensure data accuracy, while also promising administrative support to the census teams. The meeting concluded with a Q&A session, allowing field officials to address operational queries with senior officers.
