Ramban : Secretary Rural Development Department and Panchayati Raj, Ramesh Kumar, Wednesday  chaired a meeting to review the progress of the Rural Development Department (RDD) in District Ramban, focusing on physical and financial achievements, staff position, departmental infrastructure and implementation of key development schemes.

Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan; Assistant Commissioner Development, Mohammad Imran Naik; Executive Engineer, Rural Engineering Wing (REW); Block Development Officers (BDOs); and other concerned officers attended the meeting. Director, RDD Jammu, participated virtually.

During the review, the Secretary assessed the progress under major schemes, including VB-G RAM-G, PMAY-G, RGSA, Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin (SBM-G), UT CAPEX and District CAPEX. Expressing concern over low achievements in certain components, he directed the officers to expedite implementation, particularly in low-performing areas, and ensure timely achievement of prescribed targets.

The Secretary directed the Deputy Commissioner to conduct regular reviews of VB-G RAM-G and other schemes to strengthen monitoring and improve performance. The Assistant Commissioner Development was asked to submit daily progress reports on VB-G RAM-G, District CAPEX, UT CAPEX and other components to the Deputy Commissioner and the concerned Director for effective monitoring and timely corrective action.

Reviewing VB-G RAM-G, the Secretary took stock of employment generation, completion of approved works, wage payments, material expenditure, e-KYC of workers and field inspections. He directed the officers to accelerate the completion of pending works, expedite outstanding financial claims and ensure optimal utilisation of available funds.

The progress under PMAY-G was also reviewed, with directions to complete the remaining houses on priority and resolve pending cases. The officers were further directed to expedite the construction of Panchayat Ghars under RGSA and improve implementation and expenditure under SBM-G and CAPEX schemes.

Emphasising accountability, quality and effective field-level monitoring, the Secretary directed the ACD, BDOs, Executive Engineer and REW engineers to undertake regular field inspections, closely monitor ongoing works and ensure compliance with prescribed quality standards. He stressed the need to accelerate both physical and financial progress and utilise available resources efficiently within stipulated timelines.

The officers were directed to take help from the DC to remove bottlenecks, strengthen field-level supervision and ensure effective execution of all schemes to facilitate timely delivery of benefits to rural households and create quality rural infrastructure across the district.
