‘Safety drive to be extended to all districts of Jammu Province’

Jammu : The Electric Inspection Division of the Power Development Department Wednesday  concluded its second training programme on “Electrical Safety and Accident Prevention” for its line staff. Over 80 linemen were trained across the two programmes.

The programme aimed to strengthen safety awareness among field personnel and ensure strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The training covered obtaining and confirming shutdowns before starting work, proper isolation and earthing, use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and following safety protocols during maintenance, fault rectification and restoration works.

Audio-visual presentations and live demonstrations were held on the correct use of field and safety equipment. A team of doctors also gave hands-on training in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) so that participants can respond to medical emergencies including cardiac arrest.

Speaking on the occasion, Executive Engineer, Electric Inspection Division, Jammu, Er. Bhanu Partap Singh Jamwal said electrical safety is not merely a procedural requirement but a fundamental responsibility of every field employee. He added that achieving zero electrical accidents requires an uncompromising commitment to safety at every level.

The programmes were conducted by Assistant Executive Engineer Er. Amjad Parvaiz, Technical Officer Er. Prairna Bhagat, Assistant Engineer Er. Divya Gupta and Junior Engineer Rajat Kant under the overall guidance of Er. Bhanu Partap Singh Jamwal.

It was informed that, under the guidance of the Chief Electrical Inspector, the Division will hold similar programmes in a phased manner across all districts of Jammu province. The aim is to strengthen compliance with safety standards and reduce the risk of electrical accidents in the region.
