Dear Editor,
I want to publish my views through columns of your leading newspaper in Jammu & Kashmir on DK Shivakumar’s Mahadayi project in Karnatka. Below mentioned are my views on the subject:-
Let Mahadayi Flow Equitably
Apropos to Mahadayi, July 25, DK Shivakumar’s declaration to begin work on the Mahadayi project is a welcome assertion of Karnataka’s rights. Over 60% of North Karnataka is drought prone, while the state seeks only 3.9 TMC of water from a river it shares. Goa, using just 6% of the basin, opposes every move despite having over 2,000 cubic meters per capita water availability far above national averages. CM Pramod Sawant’s resistance is less about environment, more about political posturing and water hoarding. Karnataka cannot be held hostage by Goa’s inflated ego and baseless objections. It’s time to act boldly and reclaim what is rightfully to the needy.
