Srinagar: The Jammu & Kashmir Employees Joint Consultative Committee convened a high-level meeting at its head office in Shaheed Gunj Srinagar on Tuesday. The session, presided over by Chairman Aijaz Ahmad Khan, addressed key employee-related concerns and strategies for future action. The meeting also welcomed Vinod Sharma as the newly appointed General Secretary from Jammu.
Chairman Khan emphasized unity and organizational stability while advocating for a structured approach to resolving employees’ demands. The committee raised several pressing issues requiring immediate government attention.
These included the timely disbursement of employees’ General Provident Fund (GPF) bills, the regularization of temporary employees, including FPS workers and laborers, and the provision of leave salary benefits for retiring teachers similar to other government employees. The committee also demanded the inclusion of all government employees under the old pension scheme.
Another major concern discussed was the regularization of Anganwadi and ASHA workers or their inclusion under the Minimum Wages Act. The committee called for the restoration of SRO-43 in its original form and the inclusion of AAYAs, Cook-cum-Helpers, and CPWs in the Education Department under the Minimum Wages Act until their regularization. Additionally, members pushed for the regularization of employees working under various centrally assisted schemes and the immediate release of retirement benefits for retired employees.
Khan stressed the importance of maintaining organizational discipline, declaring that any office bearer absent for three consecutive meetings would face expulsion. The committee unanimously authorized him to take necessary disciplinary measures to uphold internal order.
Committee members reaffirmed their commitment to advocating for employees’ rights, vowing to continue their struggle for policy reforms and fair treatment.
The meeting was attended by key members, including Vinod Sharma, Javed Ahmad Akhoon, Khalid Mahmood, Saleem Sagar, Haji Abdul Qayoom, Muneer Falgaroo, Maqsood Ahmad, Muhammad Akbar Dar, Shahnawaz Ahanger, Aamna Ji, Haji Fatah Muhammad, Sham Prakash, Khazan Singh, Hilal Lone, Mukhtar Wani, and Mahmooda Ji.
The session concluded with a strong call for government intervention to resolve these long-standing issues affecting employees across Jammu & Kashmir.
