Washington/New Delhi: The Trump Administration will hold its first Quad meeting, with new US Secretary of State Marco Rubio meeting with his Quad counterparts — External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar of India, Australian FM Penny Wong and Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya – in Washington today.

Later, US Secretary of State Rubio is to hold a bilateral with EAM Jaishankar – in what will be their first meeting in this capacity.

According to the schedule announced by the US State Department:

The Quad Foreign Ministers meeting is scheduled at 2.45 pm DC Local Time at the Department of State.

This will be followed by a bilateral meeting between Secretary of State Rubio and EAM Jaishankar at the Department of State at 3.45 pm.

Secretary Rubio will later hold separate bilaterals with his Australian and Japanese counterparts.

With the formal announcement of the Quad Foreign Ministers’ meeting, the Trump administration has announced it is continuing with the Biden regime’s foreign policy relating to strengthening of ties with the Quad and its Indo-Pacific strategy.

The meeting takes place a day after the swearing-in of Donald Trump as President, in his second term.
