Srinagar : Former Srinagar Mayor Junaid Azim Mattu sharply criticized Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for approving the purchase of eight new Toyota Fortuners at a cost of ₹3.04 crore. Mattu highlighted a government order dated December 12, 2024, which sanctioned the acquisition of these vehicles. According to the order, four vehicles are to be stationed in Delhi, with two each allocated for Jammu and Kashmir.
In a post on micro blogging social networking site “X” Mattu expressed his disapproval by sarcastically referring to the Chief Minister as the “Hon’ble Duke of Essex” and remarked, “EIGHT new Toyota Fortuners AND apparently a brand-new personal Range Rover Defender. The only thing missing in the fleet is a plane and a yacht over Dal Lake now.”
In a scathing attack, Mattu accused the Chief Minister of prioritizing personal luxuries over public welfare. He further stated, “J&K’s status was downgraded. Not of the Abdullah Monarchy. Long live the King!
