Rae Bareli (UP): To express their gratitude towards the electorates after the historic victory of Congress party in Rae Bareli and Amethi parliamentary constituencies the entire Gandhi family including Priyanka and Sonia Gandhi will address a public meeting on June 11.

Congress District President Pankaj Tiwari on Sunday said that after Congress’ mega wins from Rae Bareli and Amethi parliamentary constituencies, the entire Gandhi family including Priyanka and Sonia Gandhi will address a public meeting to thank the people of Rae Bareli.

Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi defeated his nearest rival Dinesh Pratap Singh, a minister in the state government of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), by a huge margin of votes from Rae Bareli, while BJP’s Union Minister Smriti Irani was defeated by Kishori Lal Sharma of Congress in Amethi.

Just after the results were announced, Priyanka had also posted an emotional message to the electorate and on ground party workers expressing her heartfelt gratitude.

Tiwari said that therefore to express gratitude to the people here and to meet the people, the entire Gandhi family will meet voters. Sonia Gandhi among others will address a public meeting at Fursatganj Nahar Kothi between Amethi and Rae Bareli on Tuesday at 4 pm.

Along with the Gandhi family, the newly elected MP of Amethi, Kishori Lal Sharma, will also be present on the occasion.

In February, when Sonia Gandhi was elected as a member of the Rajya Sabha, she had made an emotional appeal to the people of the Rae Bareli seat, calling them her family and said that she is confident that the people here will take care of her and her family in the same way as they have been taking care of her till now.

Apart from this, she had made an emotional appeal to the people in Rahul Gandhi’s election rally in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections and said that she is handing over her son to the people here.

Tiwari says that if there is no other kind of change in schedule in between, then this public meeting will be held on June 11 at 4 pm.
