Tiruvarur (Tamil Nadu): Senior BJP leader and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Monday that the “Opposition-led INDIA alliance is not durable and it won’t stand for long.”

Even before elections, there is struggle among them. For them, coming together has only one reason and that is not ideological. Their intention is to see how to grab power, he said while addressing an election rally here.

BJP’s politics is nation first, but the basis of DMK and Congress politics is family first. We have a vision and mission for the country’s development.

Rajnath charged that the INDIA alliance is deliberately insulting and opposing Hindu religion. He said DMK president Stalin’s son Udhayanidhi insulted Hindu faith by comparing it with dengue, malaria and wanted to eradicate it. Should not the DMK apologise for this, he asked.

Singh said Congress has done many blunders for which India has had to pay a heavy price, and so did our fishermen. The Congress and DMK were responsible for the injustice meted out to Tamils in Sri Lanka, Katchatheevu issue and the difficulties faced by our fishermen.

Later addressing a roadshow at Namakkal, he said no Indian, irrespective of their faith, will lose citizenship with the implementation of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act.

We promised a citizenship act, and we did it. I want to clarify that any citizen of India, whether they are Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Parsis or Jews, nobody’s citizenship will go away. But, the Congress and DMK were creating confusion over the issue, he added.

The Defence Minister said the BJP always implemented what it promised, including the construction of Ram Temple, abrogation of Article 370 and the CAA.

Referring to the abolition of triple talaq, Singh said mothers and sisters from any faith are our mothers and sisters. If any atrocity against our mothers and sisters of any region, we stand with them and we proved this by abolishing triple talaq.

Rajnath also held a roadshow at Tenkasi in support of Thamizhaga Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (TMMK) founder and BJP candidate for Tenkasi (Reserved) constituency B.John Pandian, this evening.
