Bengaluru: Karnataka BJP President Vijayendra Yediyurappa on Sunday said Union Home Minister Amit Shah will draw up a strategy for general elections during his meetings with the state party leaders.
He also said the meeting will deliberate upon issues related to coordination between BJP and its ally JDS at the ground level in the run-up to the Lok Sabha election this year.
Seat-sharing arrangements with JDS may also be discussed. Both parties allied for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka.
Amit Shah arrived in Mysuru early in the morning to take part in meetings with Karnataka BJP core committee members and leaders of BJP’s Mysuru cluster.
In the last general elections, BJP had won 26 of the total 28 Lok Sabha seats in the state, including Sumalatha Ambareesh, an independent supported by the party from Mandya.
The Congress and JDS had secured one seat each.
Replying to a query, Vijayendra said, that though Mysuru is Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s home district, it is also a stronghold of the BJP as people have been backing it in Lok Sabha elections.
He said the party will find a new candidate with sitting party MP Srinivas Prasad announcing political sanyas and strategizing to win the seat.
On Sumalatha Ambareesh eyeing for the Mandya seat, Vijayendra said the central leadership will decide on it.
Sumalatha had recently met party president JP Nadda and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in Delhi.
Amit Shah also visited Suttru and attended Sutturu Jatra.
