Education is gateway to progress, one should strive hard to achieve success: Prez Murmu

Gadchiroli: President Draupadi Murmu on Wednesday asserted that education is the gateway to progress and everyone should strive hard to achieve success.

Addressing the 10th convocation of the Gondwana University here on Wednesday, Murmu said education is the gateway to progress and it should be the aim of everyone to achieve success by striving hard.

The President also said tribals have an age-old relationship with nature. By adapting to nature, they have achieved the art of living and have preserved their culture and tradition.

Tribal boys and girls are coming into the stream of education through various activities of Gondwana University, she said.

The President further said that education plays vital role in the development of any society and added that she was happy to note that Gondwana University has taken various steps for providing inclusive, cost-effective and valuable education.

“Gondwana University has been empowering students through knowledge, rational approach, professional skills and moral values”, she said.

“The University has focused on building an equitable educational ecosystem, promoting multi-disciplinary research and conducting academic programs for sustainable livelihood”, she pointed out.

She said that such educational initiatives would make students ready to contribute to the sustainable development of the region and the country.

The President appreciated Gondwana University for providing new opportunities to the youth of tribal communities and backward classes through education.

She also said that students and the university community are expected to study and address global problems. It is their duty to discuss and find solutions to contemporary issues such as climate change and environmental degradation through traditional knowledge, the latest technology and innovation and research.

She advised students to stay connected with their roots, their university while pursuing their dreams.

Maharashtra governor Ramesh Bais, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Higher Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, Forest Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar, Tribal Development Minister Dr Vijaykumar Gavit, Backward Classes Commission Chairman Hansraj Ahir, Vice Chancellor Dr Prashant Bokare and other dignitaries were present on this occasion.
