Prez, VP condole death of Parkash Singh Badal

New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Tuesday condoled the death of former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.
Expressing grief over his demise, the President in a tweet wrote, “Parkash Singh Badal was one of the tallest political stalwarts since independence. Though his exemplary career in public service was largely confined to Punjab, he was respected across the country. His demise leaves a void.”
“My heartfelt condolences to his family and admirers,” she said.
Taking to the micro blogging site, the VP said the demise of Badal is a great loss to the Punjab and the nation.
“He will always be remembered for his exceptional leadership, vision, and unwavering dedication to the welfare of the people. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this hour of grief. Om Shanti!,” Dhankhar said.
The LS Speaker in a message said,
“Saddened by the news of the demise of former Chief Minister of Punjab and senior leader Sardar Parkash Singh Badal ji.Throughout his life, he struggled in the interest of common people and farmers.”
Citing that Badal made an important contribution in the development of society, state and country, the Speaker said, “Badal also played an important role in strengthening democratic values. Undoubtedly, his demise marks the end of an era in Indian politics.”
Meanwhile, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge in a tweet wrote, “Badal ji was a veteran of Indian politics. Although we differed in our ideologies, he earned immense respect among the people of Punjab for his simplicity & loyalty to his cadre, as he served multiple terms as CM.”
