Srinagar : Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested 2 persons and seized 2 vehicles in central Kashmir’s district Budgam involved in illegal extraction/mining and transportation of minerals.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar, Police said that a police party of Police Station Budgam at a checkpoint established at Narkara arrested two persons and seized two vehicles involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, Stating therein further that the accused drivers were subsequently identified as Mohammad Yousuf Reshi S/o Ghulam Mohi-ud-din R/o Dafpora Budgam and Mohd Younis Hajam S/o Ab Gani Hajam R/o Narkara Budgam and were shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Stating that it has accordingly registered the cases under relevant sections of laws at Police Station Budgam and initiated the investigation to ascertain the facts on ground, Police in the concluding para of the above quoted statement said that people found indulging in illegal extraction/mining activities shall be dealt with as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
