Chitrakoot (UP): Abbas Ansari, Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) MLA and son of mafia Mukhtar Ansari, was shifted to Kasganj jail from Chitrakoot amidst tight security arrangements on Wednesday.
Abbas Ansari was lodged in Ragauli jail in Chitrakoot in connection with money laundering.Notably, Abbas’s wife Nikhat was arrested by the police during a raid in the jail on February 11.
The District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police raided the Chitrakoot Jail and found Nikhat with Abbas in a room in the jail. The raid was conducted following information that Abbas was using Nikhat’s mobile to threaten the witnesses and officers of the cases lodged against him.
Nikhat is currently lodged in Karvi jail in judicial custody. After the incident the government decided to transfer Abbas to Kasganj Jail.
Sources said a police team led by Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Chakrapani Tripathi reached here to take Abbas in Chitrakoot jail. He was sent to Kasganj jail amid tight security arrangements.
