Krishnanagar (West Bengal): Exactly two days after being told to lead the BJP until the 2024 general election, Jagat Prakash Nadda on Thursday kickstarted his campaign by asking the electorate of West Bengal’s Krishnanagar Lok Sabha constituency to cast their vote for the party’s lotus symbol and strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Slamming the Mamata Banerjee government for allegedly obstructing many of the central schemes initiated by the Modi government for the alleviation of poverty and upliftment of the economy of the rural people, Nadda said the BJP was the only alternative in Bengal which believed in the path of true development.

Extortion, corruption and muscle power have taken the centrestage of Bengal’s Trinamool Congress government

and even the judicial system was not spared under “Didi Raj,” added the BJP leader.

He said democracy was under threat in the state and now even the judiciary has come under attack.

“We have seen the government of SS Roy (the last Congress chief minister of Bengal), CPI(M) led Left Front government and

now Didi’s government,” Nadda said and asked the people to vote for the BJP candidates to usher in real development in the state.

Nadda claimed that the people of Bengal are “fed up with the culture of extortion, corruption and cut money” at every level of administration. Even many central social welfare schemes like Ayushman Bharat are being obstructed.

Listing the achievements of the Central government under PM Modi, Nadda said “Unlike in the past, India has become a giver nation and is aiding many a country,” Nadda said, referring to India arranging for Covid-19 vaccination for around 50 countries free of cost.

Besides 220 crore doses administered in India, (two doses each plus a booster dose for each person), the country also supported 100 other nations to combat the pandemic by supplying vaccines, Nadda said.

Addressing the open rally at the Bethuadahari Junior East Bengal ground under the Krishnanagar Lok Sabha seat, Nadda called upon the people of Bengal to extend their support further and elect all BJP candidates, including in Krishnanagar Lok Sabha seat, in the 2024 parliament elections.

Earlier in the day Nadda offered puja and prayers at the ISKCON temple at Mayapur in Nadia district.. UNI
