New Delhi: Supreme Court on Tuesday in its order extended the house arrest of 66-year-old human rights activist, Gautam Navlakha, an accused in the Bhima Koregaon case, till the second week of January.
The matter was listed before the Supreme Court for interim orders today.
Since Additional Solicitor General (ASG) SV Raju was not available today for the hearing, following which the SC extended Navlakha’s house arrest till January second week, next year.

The accused, Navlakha’s counsel told the court that the house arrest had remained “smooth”.
Supreme Court on November 10 had ordered to move Navlakha from Taloja Central Prison to house arrest.
The Elgar Parishad-Maoist links case is related to alleged inflammatory speeches delivered at the Elgar Parishad conclave, held in Pune on December 31, 2017. The police claimed that the speech triggered violence the next day near the Koregaon Bhima war memorial.
Navlakha, 66, has been in jail since April 2020. He suffers from multiple ailments. He moved the Supreme Court after the Bombay High Court rejected his plea seeking transfer to house arrest on account of his medical condition.
66-year-old Gautam Navlakha, accused in 2018 Bhima Koregaon case, was released from Taloja Central jail on November 19, and handed over to Navi Mumbai police for house arrest for a month as per the Supreme Court’s November 10 order.
The Supreme Court had in its November 18 order, had refused to recall its November 10 order directed that Navlakha be put under house arrest keeping in view his “ill health and age.”
The Apex Court in its order, had tightened the security process of house arrest of Navlakha.
