On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mussarat Islam, the Drug Control Officer, Imtiyaz Ahmed on Monday conducted the inspection of medical stores in Neel, Batoo, Parindhar and other adjoining areas.

During the inspections, the inspection team sealed a medical store for not maintaining sales records under the Drugs & Cosmetic Act 1940. Besides, 03 drug samples were also lifted from medical stores for determining their quality and purity. The chemists were warned of severe action under extant rules in case the mentioned deficiencies are not removed within a stipulated period of time.

Further, it was impressed upon the chemists to follow the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetic Act, failing which the department shall initiate action against the violators. They were instructed to install CCTV Cameras and ensure that the sale of Drugs was made only on a valid and proper prescription.

The department also requested the general public to inform the concerned if they found any violation of rules.  The team also sensitized the people to desist from taking medicines and health services from any unregistered medical stores and medicos.

Further, the people were also asked to put a vigil on persons involved in the trade of Narcotics & Psychotropic drugs, besides informing the concerned enforcement agencies.  The people were advised to avoid self medications and accordingly were requested to visit nearby healthcare centres for medical treatment.
