DC Kishtwar inspects work on Pakal Dul HEP, Reviews project related issues, listens to grievances in Arzi Village

Kishtwar: To redress the grievances of Project Affected Families (PAF) of  PakalDul Hydroelectric Power Project and to discuss the project related issues,  Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, DrDevanshYadavon Saturday visited Arzi Village and listened to the grievances of villagers besides discussed issues related to recent cracks developed at HRT portal site of PakalDul HE Project with concerned project authorities.

He was accompanied by TehsildarKishtwarPramod Kumar, NT, Anwar Chaudhary, HOP, PakalDul Project Ramesh Mukhiya HOP besides GMs and representatives.

During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner inspected the site and thereafter chaired a meeting with villagers and project authorities.

The representatives of PAFs  ofArzi Village raised the issue of safety of villagers which has been created due to cracks developed at the HRT portal site of PakalDul HE Project which can result in the slope sliding to Arzi village down the portal site.

They demanded resettlement of the entire Arzi Village at a new suitable place  on account of recent cracks developed on the HRT,TBM portal site of PakalDul Project.

Besides, the representatives demanded for the provisions of makeshift schooling facilities for the children of displaced families.

Redressing the grievances of people on the spot, the Deputy Commissioner instructed TehsildarKishtwar to co-ordinate with CEO Kishtwar to chalk out the feasibility for the makeshift School building for children in some other  government school so that learning of the student is not hampered.

Further, the project authorities were directed to constitute a technical committee to study the mid-term and long-term stability of the slope in view of forthcoming works which are planned to be carried out in the vicinity of the arzi village for the safety and security of local inhabitants.

Issue of payment of land compensation was also raised by the villagers, on which the DC Kishtwar assured them that the same would be verified and disposed of accordingly.

The concerned authorities were also directed to expedite the identification of alternative land for resettlement within one month of time.
