World is celebrating Water Day and the aim of this day is to spread awareness about the water resource, its necessity and more importantly its importance and maintenance but unfortunately the area of Mattipora Singhpora Baramulla is suffering from water crisis. Decades passed away but still population of this area are hoping that their demand for clean and safe drinking water would be provided to them but till date their demand could not be fulfilled. Today through this media we again raise this issue on the occasion of ‘World Water Day’ and we want that our water crisis demand should reach to Honorable Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and his team of administration to kindly look into matter and resolve the problem of water crisis for the area of Matttipora Singhpora Baramulla where near about 3000 population and 400 Households resides also we have our nearby villages like Gund Khawaja Qasim, Arampora, Bonichakal, Balliharan, Parihaspora, Kripalpora Bala Rambail, Singhpora, Kripalgarh, KripalPora Payeen and Hanjiwara all these villages are surviving without having sufficient drinking water in their disposal. It is matter of concern for all of us that due to poor drinking water number of diseases spread like Cholera, Diarrhea, Typhoid and Dysentery etc. We appeal to Honorable Lieutenant Governor to have kind attention for the demand of the region where people’s condition is so measurable because of poor water supply, no water supply at all for most of these villages. Also we would like to mention here that the local administration is not properly managing water resource which should be given prime importance. The residents of Mattipora village have only one access point for availing drinking water which is available for one hour a day where rural females are coming out from their homes for taking drinking water for the day. The village has about 400 Households and no household has access to drinking water at home.

Water Resource Channel ‘River Jeel’

As mentioned in this article Rural India still lacks Clean Drinking water facility and they are living very miserable life without having proper access to drinking water. At last but not least, we would like to appeal district level administration and UT Level administration and most importantly Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to kindly put his attention to this area and resolve the demand of water crisis for the residents of Mattipora Singhpora Village we will be very much thankful to you.

Local residents have good water resource channel ‘Jeel River’ which govt. only need to filter by erecting filtration plant in the area. The above water resource ‘Jeel River’ can be used to supply drinking water for number of villages, However this is the one alternative to fulfill the demand of local residents by the govt. by putting into action the present technology for purifying water by erecting filtration plant at the bank of ‘River Jeel’. Most of the times we and our govt. are talking about women empowerment but we and our govt. are always failed to resolve the ground level problem/Issues for women. We can say that these issues/problems are loopholes for launching different schemes for women empowerment. All schemes that has been taken by the government are useless unless and until the ground level barriers for women empowerment are not resolved or taken into consideration while framing different policies for women empowerment. Women of this region are putting enough efforts and investing enough time for taking 10 Liters of drinking water for their families from far flung areas. They are travelling 500 Miters on an average a day for availing drinking water to their family which is an important barrier for their education and development. Mostly women of this area are not literate or well educated which is a barrier for the nation’s growth and development. In the end there are 2 billion populations around the world they do not have access to safe drinking water and our region is also part of this statistics. World countries have framed Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to be achieved till 2030 that means every individual of the global world will have access to all the facilities mentioned in the SDGs. There are 17 SDGs in total Clean water and Sanitation is at goal number 6 framed by global countries. Clean water and Sanitation is one of the goals of SDGs which need to be achieved till 2030 but after looking at the ground level it seems difficult for India to achieve this goal till 2030.
