Kathua | : Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam Friday launched a plantation drive by planting saplings along the banks of river Chenab in connection with the River Festival organised by Forest and Social Forestry Department under the aegis of Aazadi ka Amrit Mahautsav.
DFO Ramban, Dr.Rajan Singh, DM JKSFDCL, Nafeez Ahmed and various other senior officers were present on the occasion. The members of the NGO Green Force Ramban also participated. A large number of officers, officials of department besides locals participated in the drive
After launching the plantation cum cleanliness drive at Kowbagh, the Deputy Commissioner appealed to the public not to pollute the river Chenab by dumping plastics, sewage and solid wastes on its banks. He said keeping the water sources clean will also help in soil and water conservation, thus minimizing incidents of landslides and other related environmental problems.
