Ganderbal: As part of celebrations under Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav, the District Development Council (DDC) Chairperson, Nuzhat Ishfaq Thursday flagged off Rath Yatra awareness van under Swachh Bharat Mission Grameen from Mini Secretariat Ganderbal.
Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Bilqees Jan and other officials were present on the occasion.
The awareness van passed across all Panchayats/villages of Ganderbal district to raise awareness regarding Solid Waste Management under Swachhata and Satyagrah.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC Chairperson said that the basic purpose of the Yatra is to promote Swachh Bharat Mission to accelerate the efforts to achieve sanitation coverage and to put the focus on cleanliness.
Nuzhat also lauded the efforts of the Department of Rural Sanitation for taking such initiative for bringing quality of life in rural areas.
