Umar bin Abdul Aziz

Life is happy when a person has all that one needs to live and all such needs have to be available on daily basis. When the basic needs are fulfilled, we tend to achieve higher levels in life and continue it till Moslows Hierarchy Model is achieved that take us to Self-actualization needs the topmost level of the Model. However reaching this level is not everyone’s cup of tea. Life across the globe is completely disturbed because of Covid-19 pandemic and people have no means to earn their livlihood. We humans irrespective of one’s cast and creed, age and sex, region and religion, are hit by the worst economic crisis as the whole world is in a state of chaos. Day by day the number of increasing Positive patients is impacting our lives healthwise or economically. The education system is one of the worst hit sector. The COVID-19 pandemic has hit educational systems worldwide, leading to the near-total closures of schools and universities and colleges. Most governments around the world have temporarily closed educational institutions in an attempt to contain the spread of COVID-19. Till date approximately 1.725 billion learners are currently hit due to closure of schools. According to UNICEF monitoring, 106 countries are currently implementing nationwide closures and 55 are implementing local closures, impacting about 98.6 per cent of the world’s student population. Schools of 48 countries are currently open. Facing tremendous hardships while fighting corona virus and ongoing economic crisis is what we all are facing and are likely face such huge challenge coming months and years as well. Usually, a person earns and feeds his dependents, besides taking care of other financial needs of his family. No matter how hot or cold the weather is and how hard the conditions in Kashmir are, a hard earner never stops. He has to come out of his home and has to ensure that basic amenities of life reach his family. He has to manage all the necessities of life in a harmonious manner, but unfortunately the current scenario has pushed these hard earners to depression and mental trauma.
Have faith in Allah and start doing good deeds as early as possible. Also remember, wearing a face mask and keeping social distancing is neither a sin nor a crime, so what are we ashamed or embarrassed of. These are the only two things which have been found successful in fighting this virus.
Since we are going to live in 5G world but corona virus spread has pushed us into a state of chaos, confusion and frustration. We may call ourselves the champion of technological innovations but we don’t get easily what we need on daily basis. Health scientists, WHO and other organizations’ are yet to take us out of the several months long lockdown face masks use.The question here arises that despite high tech medical technology and latest gadget inventions, we are yet clueless about the remedial measures to curb this deadly pandemic. This invisible enemy(Coronavirus) has taken precious lives of millions of people across the globe and is still uncontrolled. Deadly pandemic threatening our lives can’t be controlled in the absence of a strong response from the people themselves. The fight between health and wealth goes on and we can let our lives end while following new tools of economic revival. We have to take decisions to fix our priorities for survival in this challenging situation. No doubt “Jan Hai to Jahan Hai” is the slogan used for public awareness against the spread of COVID-19 pandemic but we have to make up for losses which we suffered in several months of non stop lockdown also to ensure our health and life become top priorities for all of us. Once we are determined to save our lives, economic revival won’t be as difficult a challenge as health safety is. So it becomes obligatory upon all of us to abide by all the health advisories and follow SOP’s issued by the government month after month and week after week. The key issue deserving public attention is respect to health workers especially doctors and nurses. Health workers are working in a challenging situation and they don’t demand money but public cooperation in fight against COVID-19 pandemic. So respect them and respond to health advisories responsibly to ensure that lives are saved in hospital presently flooded with the COVID-19 patients in Kashmir. Another casualty of the non-stop pandemic is the mental health of the people. Unprecedented rise in the cases of suicide noticed in recent days too has evoked huge public concern. Spending most of time at home is new experience and this practice has consequently decreased our patience level. A young adult finds it difficult to absorb the reality and most of the time the youth reach a state of depression and hence have suicidal thoughts. It is the need of the hour to think about this matter. We should counsel our children, friends and colleagues about the challenges of life. Children find it difficult to share their feelings with their parents and as such we have create an atmosphere to redeem them. Both parents and children should increase their level of patience and hence feel the reality. Remember, we can earn, travel and enjoy life tomorrow only and only if we manage to beat corona. Have faith in Allah and start doing good deeds as early as possible. Also remember, wearing a face mask and keeping social distancing is neither a sin nor a crime, so what are we ashamed or embarrassed of. These are the only two things which have been found successful in fighting this virus.
