Srinagar: Shifting of operation equipment from Sub District hospital Khansahib to Chanpora on last Sunday though drew a flak after the move triggered massive public protests in the area, but the uneasy calm still prevails in the area due to the hostile approach of the local Block Medical Officer and Chief Medical Officer Budgam. The chaos triggered by a provocative attempt of shifting the operation theatre equipment amid the rising no of COVID-19 patient after the huge influx of migrant labourers in the area is not heading to any dead end.
Locals say that though COVID-19 health warriors are putting in their best to bring the spread of deadly COVID-19 pandemic under control in Budgam district but the COID -19 health protocol measures are not showing desired results due to irritating responses of the officials holding key positions in the health department in the district. Last Sunday the Chief Medical Officer Budgam initially put the onus on Financial Commissioner Health and Medical Education Attal Daloo and Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Pandurang K Pole saying that the operation equipments are being shifted to Chanpora for COVID-19 patients under the instructions of Attal Daloo and Pandurang K Pole, but the contradiction of the claims of Chief Medical Officer Dr Tajamul Khan by both Daloo and Pole forced him to put on hold his independent decision of shifting the operation theatre equipment from SDH Khansahid to Chanpora in the municipal limits of Srinagar City .
Witnesses told Kashmir Horizon that a huge crowd had gathered at SDH Khansahib on last Sunday soon after health officials of SDH Khansahib started shifting operation theatre equipments to Chadoora”, adding that “protesters stopped authorities from shifting the operation theatre equipment to Chanpora”. Locals said that though the authorities have already changed a local college into a Covid-19 health facility Centre where about 60 Covid-19 patients are undergoing treatment but they needlessly tried to shift the operation theatre equipment to Chanpora in the municipal limits of Srinagar City. Initially Chief Medical Officer Dr Tajamul Khan on last Sunday had told Kashmir Horizon that he is following the instructions of Financial Commissioner Health and Medical Education Attal Daloo and Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Pandurang K Pole over the shifting of operation theatre equipment from SDH Khansahib to Chadoora but Financial Commissioner Health and Medical Education and as well as the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir refused to have issued any suchdirections for shifting of the operation theatre equipment from SDH Khansahib to Chanpora. Under mounting public pressure and apprehension about breach of law and order amid COVID-19 pandemic in Khansahib area the Chief Medical Officer Budgam had to put on hold the decision of shifting the operation theatre equipment from SDH Khansahib to Chanpora in the outskirts of Srinagar city.
