As we all are aware that present situation is critical due to lockdown because of Corana virus. This virus has changed the world order. Every technology of the world failed before this pandemic. We have seen lockdown all over the world on the same time due to same reason. The lockdown in India started from March 25 in the wake of the rapidly spreading novel Corana virus pandemic. Due to this sudden lockdown majority of people started suffering due to shortage of necessary items for survival of life. Now this was challenge that who will take care of these needy people when safety of life was only staying inside the houses, who will come out to take care and provide basic items. These were NGOs who came forward to help these people in this dangerous situation. From the first day of lockdown Non Governmental Organisations are working day night for the needy people. These organisations are reaching needy people at their doorsteps with necessary food items. Apart from providing meals to the needy, NGOs across the country also opened relief shelter homes for people to take refuge. The analysis of the central government’s reply shows that 10.37 lakh people in India are staying in camps set up NGOs. Maharashtra is one of the best examples of how NGOs are contributing in sheltering people hit by the lockdown. And the role of NGOs all over the country has been also accepted by Government also. In press statement Govt said; ‘NGOs & Charitable organisations are playing an important role in providing cooked food to thousands of poor and needy people during the time of nation-wide lockdown’. If we talk about of our UT J&K, we have various NGOs working here in this crucial time. From the first day of lockdown, our NGOs are working with great efforts. They are reaching out to the needy ones in the UT. It is the time when everyone is trying to stay at their homes as it is very dangerous to come out from houses, instead of that our NGOs working in the field everywhere. In our valley we have Chinar International, ELFA International, Athrout, Association of Social workers, Socio Concern group, Elixir Foundation, Human race, Payim e insaniyat, etc working as leading organisations in Kashmir valley. We also have various regional organisations and some individuals who are working in this crucial time. I salute all the NGOs working in our valley during this crucial time, the volunteers of NGOs are great warriors of valley. We should respect & pray for these volunteers. Everyone should contribute to these volunteer organisations, so that they can reach needy ones. I am also working with an organisation namely Elixir Foundation J&K. Elixir Foundation is one of the 55 Global Organisations selected by UNESCO to work on the world heritage volunteers imitative. Elixir Foundation is an imitative by the Presidential Awardees of Govt of India to ubiquitously enhance lives for a better society. Youth Empowerment through community services is one of the major drives at Elixir to make today’s youth more socially responsible & we achieve it through numerous initiatives at Elixir. Madhis Parikh is founding President of Elixir Foundation. Elixir provides international volunteering opportunities in India & abroad to experience the global village confidently and empower the youth potential. We strongly believe in making you discover the potential individuals who wants to bring an admirable change in the community & make this world a better place to live in. “Together We Can Do More” Elixir Foundation is also working from the starting of lockdown in the Kashmir valley under the leadership of Towseef Lateef. We are trying to reach every needy family in the valley especially in South & Central Kashmir. We have distributed a lot of food kits to the needy ones at their doorsteps.
Stay at your homes, pray for all especially for the volunteers so that no one can sleep hungry. Don’t waste food items & other resources; contribute your surplus to needy ones.
We also have senitized various public places in South Kashmir. We have worked very hard from the initial days. I don’t want highlight work but want to encourage other organisations as well. I am satisfied with works of all NGOs in the valley. I have proud of those volunteers who worked a lot during this pandemic. NGOs in our valley also played an important role and proved that they can do anything for the safety of people. Besides restrictions these organisations worked hard and reached to needy people. NGOs work is going to be continuous and situation is also going worse in valley due to increasing cases. Various NGOs are running through the shortage of stock due to this sudden lockdown. So people should also cooperate with organisations and contribute towards these organisatins. At last I am requesting people of valley that NGO volunteers are in the field for your service, so stay at your homes and cooperate with administration for more some days, so that this virus can go away from us. Stay at your homes, pray for all especially for the volunteers so that no one can sleep hungry. Don’t waste food items & other resources; contribute your surplus to needy ones. And I request youth of valley that donate at least 1 unit of blood in district hospitals during this lock down. Let us pray together so that this virus will end soon. [Aameen]
