DC Budgam reviews disaster mgmt preparedness, chairs preliminary meet on distt capex budget

Budgam: District Development Commissioner(DDC), Budgam, Tariq Hussain Ganai, Thursday chaired a meeting of officers to take stock of disaster preparedness at Conference Hall, Budgam.
Among others, the meeting was attended by ADC, Dr Nasir Ahmad, CPO, SE Hydraulics, GM DIC, CEO, DIO, all Executive Engineers, Health Officers, EOs Municipal Committees and other concerned.
During the meeting, the DDC took a detailed stock of works done on Sharief-abad Bridge, which are being executed by the JKPCC. He was informed that de-silting of irrigation canals is in full swing. He stressed expediting the process across the district and instructed on taking stringent action against illegal excavation of sand and other material from irrigation canals and strea
Later, the DDC convened another meeting to finalize works and targets to be achieved in key sectors under district capital outlay 2020-21.
Addressing the meeting, the DDC saiddue to covid-19 pandemic situation all in hand projects and works under key sectors particularly R&B, PHE, Health, Education, PDD were hampered and derailed. However, since the easing of restrictions, it is likely that restart of the pending work on key sectors under languishing as well as current shall be taken up very soon.
The DDC emphasized that concerned departments and officers have the responsibility to demonstrate full potential and dedication, keeping in view the instructions and directions envisaged in guidelines issued by the finance department.
During the meeting, the DDC was informed that the pending work on all undergoing project will be completed within the notified timeframe, if situation allows.
The DDC directed the health department to initiate measures to take over SDH Pakherpora building at an earliest and make it functional for public service.
