Jammu: Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu and his advisors K K Sharma, Farooq Ahmad Khan and Rajiv Rai Bhatnagar have in their separate statements greeted people on the auspicious occasion of Baisakhi.
In his message of felicitations, the Lt Governor G C Murmu observed that this day,which marks the beginning of New Year in the Indian Calendar, has a special significance for the people of Northern India. Baisakhi also marks the commencement of the harvesting season, when farmers reap the fruit of their hard work, he added.The Lt Governor observed that the celebration of this festival symbolizes the spirit of our glorious pluralistic traditions and the custom of observing Baisakhi with harmony and mutual brotherhood adds colour to its festivity. The Lt Governor appealed to the people to adhere to the social distancing norms and avoid any public gathering in view of the current situation. He prayed for peace, harmony, brotherhood, progress and prosperity in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a message of felicitations, the Advisor to Govvernor K K Sharma said the day marks the beginning of the New Year in Indian Calendar, having great importance to the people of Northern India, particularly for the Sikh community as the Khalsa Panth came to existence on this day. “The festival also marks the commencement of the harvesting season in the north lndia”, the Advisor maintained. He said the celebration of this festival is a living example of our pluralistic traditions and mutual brotherhood. The Advisor also appealed the people to adhere to the protocols put in view of the Global pandemic of the COVID 19 especially the concept of Social distancing. He also prayed for peace, progress and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir.
In his message on Baisakhi, another Advisor to Governor Farooq Ahmad Khan highlighted the rich ethos of Jammu and Kashmir of celebrating festivals and holy occasions in an atmosphere of brotherhood and amity. He hoped that this unique characteristic of the J&K would get further strengthened while wishing the people happiness and well being.He appealed people that in the hour of COVID-19 Pandemic they should pray for the well being of all countrymen and try to help poor and destitute people.The Advisor wished peace, prosperity and development of the Jammu and Kashmir and the country.
In his message another Advisor to Lt Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar said that Baisakhi festival signifies the spirit of harmony and mutual brotherhood of our nation and marks the commencement of the harvesting season, when farmers reap the fruit of their hard work.The Advisor appealed the people to follow safety guidelines put in view of the Global pandemic of the COVID 19 while celebrating the festival and advised them to strictly follow the concept of social distancing.The Advisor also prayed for the peace, prosperity and progress of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
