Srinagar | September, 8: The President of India on Tuesday appointed Vinai Kumar Saxena, Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, to discharge the functions of the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir in addition to his own duties, during the absence on leave of Manoj Sinha, the incumbent LG of J&K.
An official communiqué from President’s Office said that the LG of Ladakh will discharge these responsibilities until Manoj Sinha returns from leave on September 17. The President empowered the LG of Ladakh to discharge the functions ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of the new Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. Vinai Kumar Saxena is scheduled to administer the oath to Justice Pushpendra Singh Bhati tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. at the Shalimar Convention Centre of SKUAST-Kashmir. Consequently, the university administration has suspended all official and academic work at the main campus to facilitate the event, as the SKUAST auditorium was chosen while SKICC hosts an International Film Festival.
