Srinagar/Feb, 22: Following fresh snowing and landslides on Banihal-Ramban track the Jammu-Srinagar highway continued to remain shut  on Friday and road clearance operation was likely to get underway anytime in the afternoon today.

Traffic police officials overseeing the movement of traffic on Srinagar-Jammu highway said ” fresh landslides at some places on Ramsoo-Ramban track and fresh snowfall in Banihal forced the closure of Srinagar-Jammu highway on Friday for the third consecutive day”, adding that  a clearance operation is likely to begin later in the day as the weather office has forecast an improvement in the weather conditions”.

Reports said 17,00 vehicles, including trucks loaded with essential commodities and light motor vehicles carrying passengers to the Kashmir Valley, are stranded at various places on the highway.
