JAMMU, OCTOBER 31: Director General, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Jammu Rajesh Kumar Shavan today chaired a meeting to review the arrangements for the ensuing Darbar Move and preparedness for the winter season across Jammu Division.

Joint Director (Adm), Deputy Director F&R, Deputy Director (P&S) besides all ADs of Jammu division attended the meeting. At the outset, the Assistant Directors (ADs) apprised the Director General of the status of lifting of foodgrains for six-month and three-month winter dumping in their respective districts. The progress of lifting and stocking arrangements was reviewed, with emphasis on timely completion to ensure adequate availability of foodgrains, particularly in far-flung and snow-bound areas.

The Director General also reviewed the availability and supply position of essential commodities, including LPG, petrol and diesel. He stressed the need for maintaining uninterrupted supplies during the winter months and directed the concerned officers to maintain close coordination with Oil Marketing Companies and other stakeholders to prevent any disruption in supply.

The Assistant Directors were directed to intensify market checking and ensure strict monitoring of prices, availability and quality of essential commodities to curb overpricing, hoarding and black marketing and safeguard consumer interests.

Further emphasising discipline and accountability, the Chair exhorted the officers and field functionaries to maintain punctuality, proper conduct and effective supervision of departmental activities, particularly in view of the Darbar Move arrangements.

The meeting also reviewed the progress of Aadhaar-based Face Authentication in the Public Distribution System (PDS) and the implementation of the Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) initiative under PMGKAY. The officers were directed to expedite the necessary preparatory activities, facilitate beneficiary awareness and ensure coordinated efforts for smooth implementation of these initiatives.
