Srinagar, 31 Oct: Youth National Conference Saturday organised an impressive one-day convention of its North Kashmir unit at Dak Bungalow, Sopore. The convention was presided over by Provincial Youth President Mushtaq Mir, while North Zone President and MLA Uri, Sajjad Shafi Uri, MLA Sopore Irshad Rasool Kar, senior leader Khawaja Mohammad Yaqoob Wani, District President Baramulla Advocate Shahid Ali, women leader Musarrat Kar and other party leaders attended the event as special guests.
The convention witnessed detailed deliberations on party programmes, organisational activities and matters concerning YNC. Participants also discussed the future course of action to further strengthen the organisation.
Addressing the gathering, party leaders said that empowering the youth of Jammu and Kashmir, providing them better opportunities and bringing positive transformation to their lives have always remained central to the political struggle of the National Conference.
The leaders highlighted the revolutionary initiatives undertaken during NC governments, particularly free education, which laid the foundation for a major transformation in the social landscape of Jammu and Kashmir. They said that policies aimed at expanding access to education and creating opportunities for children belonging to poor and middle-class families transformed thousands of households and opened new avenues for the younger generation.
They observed that the large number of educated young people in Jammu and Kashmir today is, to a considerable extent, the outcome of these people-oriented policies and initiatives.
The leaders said that YNC has always remained an important pillar of the National Conference, making invaluable contributions towards advancing the party’s ideology, safeguarding public rights and strengthening democratic values.
They urged the youth to play a constructive role in upholding democratic values, secular traditions, social justice and public rights. The leaders stressed that issues confronting young people, including unemployment, drug abuse, lack of skills and limited employment opportunities, require collective efforts by both the government and society.
In his address YNC Provincial President Mushtaq Mir appreciated the various self-employment initiatives launched by the government for young people. He emphasised that alongside government employment, creating avenues for self-employment, skill development and entrepreneurship is an urgent necessity.
He called upon the youth to actively contribute towards the development of Jammu and Kashmir, promotion of peace, brotherhood and democratic values, while working collectively to strengthen the people-oriented manifesto and ideology of the National Conference.
