Srinagar/Feb,12: The Jammu-Srinagar highway on Tuesday continued to remain closed for traffic on seventh day as landslides are yer to be cleared on the Ramban-Ramsoo stretch.

Traffic police officials overseeing the movement of traffic on the highway connecting Jammu with the land locked valley said “Two fresh landslides on the Ramban-Ramsoo track have caused fresh disruption in the road clearance operations going on for the last six days in the area .  We are hopeful of opening the highway shortly in next few hours’.  They asked the intending travelers  not to start the journey without contacting police traffic control rooms in Jammu and Srinagar.

Senior state government officials including Divisional Commissioner Jammu, IGP Jammu and IGP traffic Monday visited Ramban district to personally supervise the clearance operation and ensure that stranded passengers were provided shelter and food. Raining at some places on the highway has started again.

An acute shortage of essentials of life has hit the landlocked valley as the highway continued to remains closed for the seventh consecutive day
