New Delhi: From allowing staff to use the boys’ toilet to non-functional CCTV cameras, the two-member fact finding committee set up by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on the Ryan International School killing, has pointed out major safety lapses on the part of the school administration.
The grisly murder of the seven-year-old led to protests from parents and citizens about the deplorable lack of safety in schools.
A bus conductor has been arrested for the murder of the Class II boy who was found bleeding from a slit throat outside a school toilet in the Bhondsi branch of the school on September 8.
Indicting the school administration for compromising on students’ safety, the panel observed that there were insufficient number of CCTV cameras on the school premises and worse, most of the installed cameras did not work.
Though the committee in its report has not recommended disaffiliation of the school, it has pointed to violation of several safety rules by the school.
