New Delhi: CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury today lashed out at the Modi Government over the demonetisation shock to the economy, asserting that the people would never forgive what he called the ‘anti-national act’.
‘Lives and livelihoods lost, the Economy got a shock, workers lost their jobs.
India can never forgive Modi government for this anti-national act,’ the veteran Left leader said in a tweet on the micro blogging site twitter in a trenchant criticism of the Government’s November 8 move to withdraw old Rs 1000 and Rs 500 currency notes from the system.
He was reacting to data released by the Reserve Bank of India in its annual report that about 89 million notes of Rs 1000 denomination out of a total of 6700 million notes as on November 8 did not come back into the system.
According to the RBI data, this worked out to only 1.
