New Delhi: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today reviewed the law and order situation in a meeting after conviction of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim in rape case which triggered large scale violence by his supporters in many parts of Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab and some parts of Delhi and Rajasthan.

Briefing media persons after the meeting, Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi said the meeting reviewed the internal security situation in the country after the large scale violence by Dera supporters. He said as per Haryana Director General of Police, ‘the situation is under control in the state. Some other points related to internal security were also discussed in the meeting.’

Mehrishi said the situation in Punjab, Rajasthan and Delhi is normal. Senior Police and administrative officials of Punjab, Rajasthan and Delhi took part in the meeting. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval was also present in the meeting. The Home Secretary told reporters that the ongoing encounter with terrorists in the Pulwama of Jammu and Kashmir was also discussed. It is believed that the security forces have holed up two to four terrorists there.
