New Delhi: Reacting to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s claims of Rs three lakh crore getting into the banking system post-demonitisation, Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad today said that the former’s statement was in clear contrast to the statement given by the Reserve Bank of India, on the same. Addressing a press conference at the AICC Headquarters here, Mr Azad pointed out that while Mr Modi had yesterday claimed in his yesterday Independence Day speech that Rs three lakh crore had already come into the banking system, including Rs 1.75 thousand crore black money, the RBI in a recent statement had said that they were still counting the money and were yet to come up with a substantive amount. If the RBI is yet to segregate between the fake and the black money, where did this figure come from, asked Mr Azad. He further said that if the Prime Minister knew about the amount before hands, he should have answered the question put up on the issue by Congress, in Parliament. Talking about the media, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha said radio and newspapers have an undeclared emergency. The media is feeling suffocated, he alleged, adding ‘Why don’t they declare a new policy of emergency over media?’
