Lucknow: Undeterred with the Yogi Adityanath Government’s directive to sing the National Anthem and make full videography of the Independence Day functions, most of the Madarasas in Uttar Pradesh today defied the directives on the call given by clerics and Muslim religious institutions.
However all the Madarasas hoisted the National Tricolour but instead of the National Anthem they sang ‘Sare Jahan Se Achchha’. The call to oppose the UP Government directive was given by Barelvi sect and clerics of Dargah Ala Hazrat.
On the other hand, all the Madarasas belonging to Shia and Deoband sang the National Anthem after hoisting the National Flag. They too held a programme to remember the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters.
A report from Bareilly said that the clerics hoisted the National Flag at the Madarasa at Mathurapur by Sahar Quazi Maulana Aszad Mia. They sang ‘Sare Jahan Se Achchha’ and when police tried to videograph their function, the clerics opposed it and did not let them do so.
In all the Madarasas in Bareilly and it’s nearby area the situation was similar where they only sang ‘Sare Jahan Se Achchha’. Officials of the Madarasa Board said they will submit their report tomorrow on the violation of the directive.
In Kanpur several Madarasas only hoisted the National Flag and did not sing the National Anthem or ‘Sare Jahan Se Achchha’.
