Patna: RJD chief Lalu Prasad today demanded resignation of Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi saying he and other senior BJP leaders were involved in Rs 1000 Crores Srijan scam in Bhagalpur and only CBI inquiry could expose the high-ups who continued to give patronage to scamsters for long period.
Mr Prasad told media persons here that volume of Srijan scam in Bhagalpur reached to astronomical figure of Rs 1000 Crores and it could be even higher while involvement of Deputy Chief Minister Mr Modi and other senior BJP leaders also came to light.
It could not be coincidental that Srijan, an NGO working for women, started its functioning when Mr Modi had become Deputy CM in his first term in 2005, he added.
” Mr Modi was Finance Minister from 2005 to 2013 during regime of Nitish led NDA government in Bihar and huge funds were withdrawn from treasury and deposited in banks and also in account of Srijan”, RJD chief said adding that those in government had exerted pressure on successive district magistrates of Bhagalpur to deposit government fund in account of Srijan, which was brazen violation of financial rules.
