New Delhi: Government today announced to set up a High Level Committee to review and revamp the Employees Pension Scheme (EPS), 1995 which will benefit 58-lakh pensioners. Intervening in the debate on a private members’ resolution in the Lok Sabha today, Minister of State for Labour and Employment (Independent Charge), Bandaru Dattatreya said the high Level Committee will look into every aspect of the EPS, 1995 and will give its recommendations.
He said that based on the recommendations, Government will come out with completely revamped pension scheme for 58-lakh pensioners. He announced that the Government would give medical benefit to all the pensioners under Employees State Insurance (ESI). The details were being worked out for the same. But Mr Dattatreya refused to enhance the minimum pension to Rs 3,000 per month and said that it would be Rs 1,000 per month till the new revamped pension scheme was effective.
