Pandher & Koli sentenced to death in infamous 2006 Nithari killings case

Ghaziabad: Moninder Singh Pandher and Surinder Koli, the accused in the 2006 Nithari killings were today awarded the death sentence by the special CBI court in Ghaziabad in one of the 19 cases. In the 8th case of murder and rape of Pinky Sarkar, the court also slapped a penalty of Rs 35,000 each on the two convicts along with the death sentence.

The court, had earlier pronounced its judgement in the seven cases out of the total 19 FIR, the probe agency had filed in connection with the Nithari killings. The special court had completed the hearings on the matter two days ago, and had fixed today as the date for pronouncing the judgement.

The Nithari killings had come into light in December 2006 and was handed over to the CBI in January 2007. The CBI had filed a total of 19 cases in this regard and has submitted its report and respective chargesheets in the court.
