New Delhi: BJP chief Amit Shah today strongly dismissed Opposition criticism about the alleged ‘jobless growth’ in the country under the Modi government and asserted that on the contrary through Mudra Bank initiatives, a large number of people have been provided with assistance to set up their self-employment units. “If you confine jobs only to service sector, this would not be good for the country,” Mr Shah said addressing a function organised for release of a book on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He said that solution to various problems in this country including on unemployment should come from a model that is suited to the country – and “not on any model either imported or loaned from abroad”. It is in this context, Mr Shah said the Opposition criticism is unfounded. “Jobless growth…..jobless growth….They have gone to the extent of pulling hairs even from my bald head”. He said through Mudra Bank – the government has ensured that as many as 7.28 crore youth have been assisted to run their self-employment units.

The BJP chief said even as Chief Minister of Gujarat – Mr Modi had taken adequate steps for skill development among people and also about helping those who want to run self-employment units. “He has brought these from Gujarat to the national level as Prime Minister,” Mr Shah said. The BJP chief also said the Central government during last three years have maintained a right balance between contradictory parameters like industrial development and agriculture, developments in rural and urban areas and also between carrying out reforms and welfare measures. Similarly, he said Vibrant Gujarat was a major milestone.

“Moreover, for 10 years continuously, the GDP for Gujarat was about 12 per cent,” he said. Mr Shah said the test of Prime Minister’s popularity and acceptability by people of India – as reflected in 2014 – was not possible by “any campaign and by any party”. “The moment BJP named Mr Modi as BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate, there was optimism all along,” he said. The book ‘Narendra Damodardas Modi – The Making of a Legend’ penned by renowned sociologist and founder of Sulabh International Bindeshwar Pathak was released by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat in presence of BJP chief Mr Shah and several union Ministers including Manoj Sinha, Arjib Ram Meghawal and Lt Governor of Puducherry Kiran Bedi.
