New Delhi: The Supreme Court today decided to constitute a five-judge Constitution bench for an urgent hearing of the main Aadhaar matter, most likely to be heard on Tuesday. The apex court decided to constitute a five-judge bench to hear whether there is a right to privacy or not.
The matter was mentioned before the apex court bench, headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Jagdish Singh Khehar, who decided to constitute the five-judge Constitution bench as early as possible to hear the case whether there is a right to privacy or not.
The apex court had earlier in June 9 judgement had stayed the Central government order of linking Aadhaar with PAN and said till the constitution bench decides the matter, it was stayed. The Court had upheld the validity of the section 139- AA of the Income Tax (IT) Act which prescribes linking of PAN with Aadhaar.
