Yoga Day: Modi, Yogi to head yoga display at Lucknow

New Delhi: Preparations are in full swing for the Third International Yoga Day when Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath show off their yoga skills at the head of a 51,000-strong participation in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. The UP capital plans a massive showcase of yoga when the Prime Minister flanked by the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Governor Ram Naik performs yoga along with ministers from the Yogi government, a 51,000-strong participation, including school students, paramilitary personnel, government officials and volunteers. The session lasting 80 minutes will begin at 0630 hrs and end by 0750 hrs. It will be live telecast on television channels. The entire state machinery is being geared up to play an active part in tomorrow’s showcase of the ancient Indian tradition. The Union Council of Ministers will fan out across the country with Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari leading the events at Sujanpur Tira in Himachal Pradesh and Nagpur in Maharashtra respectively, while Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar will preside over the Manipur leg and Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu performing yoga at Mumbai. In various stadia and sports fields throughout the country, mass turnouts are anticipated at the performance of Common Yoga Protocol is expected to attract top politicians, bureaucrats and distinguished citizens from various walks of life on the occasion. The Ministry of AYUSH and DDA with support of Art of Living, Patanjali Yoga Samiti, Vivekanand Yogashram Hospital, Brahmakumari, Isha Foundation and Gayatri Parivar. This is the third edition of the day which the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) approved by consensus to celebrate June 21 as “International Day of Yoga”.
