New Delhi: Amid ongoing protest in Darjeeling Hills, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today appealed to the people living in Darjeeling and nearby areas to remain calm and peaceful and said that nobody should resort to violence.
The Home Minister spoke to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee this morning over phone to take stock of the situation in Darjeeling, where the agitations by the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha(GJM) turned violent.
Ms Banerjee briefed the Home Minister about the present situation in Darjeeling.
‘Spoke to West Bengal Chief Minister Sushri Mamata Banerjee this morning.
She has apprised me of the situation prevailing in Darjeeling,’ Mr Singh tweeted.
