New Delhi: With seven crore cases in courts pending, Union Law and Justice Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad is going to write to all chief justices of high courts to expedite all those cases which were more than ten years old.
Mr Prasad said here that he had asked his departmental secretaries to pursue this work in a mission mode.
“I am going to appeal to chief justices to see that all the over ten-year-old cases were expedited,’’ Mr Prasad told a press conference he addressed jointly with his deputy PP Choudhary here on the achievements of the Ministry during the past three years of the NDA Government.
The Minister said the Government itself was working towards reducing its own litigation and a draft national litigation policy would be brought soon.
The endeavour would be to restrict appeals to a minimum by careful scrutiny of the implications of judgement and making appeals an exception unless its affected government policy.
