New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be traveling tomorrow to Kazaksthan capital Astana for the much awaited Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit wherein the state is set for India’s entry into the the multilateral forum.
“I will travel to Astana, Kazakhstan for two days on 8-9 June for the Summit meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
At this meeting, on completion of the process, India will become a full Member of the SCO,” Prime Minister Modi said in a statement here.
After India’s inclusion as a member, the SCO will represent over 40 per cent of humanity and nearly 20 per cent of the global GDP, he said.
Mr Modi said, India had: “launched the process of full membership in Tashkent meeting of the SCO last year” and added that India will be looking forward to deepen India’s association with the SCO “which will help us in economic, connectivity and counter-terrorism cooperation, among other things”.
