New Delhi, May 23: In a setback for the BJP, which secured a huge victory in the recent polls to the three Municipal corporations in Delhi, the Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress secured a victory in the bypolls for the Maujpur and the Sarai Pipal Thala wards respectively.
The AAP, which has in recent weeks, been faced with charges levelled by sacked minister Kapil Mishra on the alleged corruption in the Delhi Government, received a shot in the arm after its candidate Reshma Nadeem won the Maujpur MCD bypoll while Congress won the bypolls for the Sarai Pipal Thala ward.
Ms Nadeem registered her victory with a margin of 699 votes following recounting of votes.
The Congress managed to secure the second spot while the BJP stood at the third place.
Ms Nadeem secured 9,374 votes while the Congress 8,675 and the BJP 5,763 votes.
