New Delhi, Apr 12:A delegation of Opposition parties, led by Congress, today met President Pranab Mukherjee on the issue of the alleged tampering of EVMs and demanded that voting in the forthcoming elections, including the assembly polls in Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat, be held through ballot papers and EVMs using VVAPTs.
The delegation of Opposition parties was led by Congress president Sonia Gandhi and comprised of Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, party leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad and Satyavrat Chaturvedi, CPI leader D Raja and CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury met President Pranab Mukherjee this afternoon and submitted him a memorandum on their demands which include holding voting to the forthcoming elections though paper ballot and VVAPT EVM machines.
Talking to reporters after meeting the President, Mr Azad said, “A 13-member delegation of opposition parties met the President.
We have given a detailed memorandum to him.
’’ He said during their meeting Mr Azad raised with him the issue of the alleged tampering of the EVMs.
