Lucknow, Apr 5: All-India Shia Personal Law Board (AISPLB) said today that the practice of triple talaq was totally anti-Islam.
Around 45 of the 60 executive members of the Board, which discussed all the vexed issues here, also supported the call for a pan-India ban on cow slaughter.
The consultations was chaired by Board’s chairman Maulana Mirza Mohammad Ashfaq and secretary Zahir Abbas.
AISPLB spokesperson Maulana Yasoob Abbas told reporters that, if required, its stand will be presented before the Supreme Court, which would hear the case next month.
Mr Abbas said that with the advance of technology, women were being divorced through Internet and SMS by their husbands who work in other countries.
