Srinagar: Chairman Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) Hakeem Yaseen has expressed anguish over the repeated attempts to distort historical legacy of the state by rechristening public places and landmarks adding that it depicts myopic outlook of the elements behind such machinations.

In a statement , Hakeem Yaseen, while referring to removal of the name of Sheri Kashmir from the state owned International Convention Center (SKICC) said that such cheap acts could never undermine legacy of the kashmir history. He said it seems some elements at the helm of affairs , out of sheer grudge against kashmir leadership , have resorted to a sustained campaign to wipe out legacy of kashmir history. He said that it was now 4th such allempt in a row to undermine the historical facts ,  right from dropping public holidays from the state Calender on July 13- Martyers Day and Shiekh Abdullas birthday followed by removal of Sheri Kashmir title from the state awards and police medals and now renaming SKICC as Kashmir international Convention Center. He said it would have been better to focus on redressal of the grievances of the people and bridging gaps between the people of various regions and sub regions of the state instead of hurting thier emotions and sentiments.
Hakeem Yaseen has termed these acts of the government very unfortunate adding that elements behind the seen would never succeed in their sister plans to undermine the legacy of kashmir history. He said these acts are aimed at to create a wedges between people of  the regions besides hurting sentiments of the people. ” Historical facts can not be undermined or overlooked by such cheap acts,” Hakeem Yaseen asserted adding that removing names from public places and landmarks only exhibits political bankruptcy and myopic outlook.
